Slipped Disc. L6. Heightened sensitivity
Hello I have slipped a disc approximately 1 week ago (Saturday).
I have since seen an:
- osteopath
- chiropractor (twice)
- acupuncturist
On the Saturday a few hours after experiencing a sharp pain in the morning, I went and saw the Osteopath. The Osteopath may have only believed that it was a pulled muscle at the time, since he only decided to give me an exercise which was similar to a plank, but involved moving backwards on the elbows. This was pretty painful.
When I arrived home I laid on the couch with an ice pack on the sore area of my back. At some point I stood up and that's when I think the herniation occurred (very severe pain, never felt anything like it before in my life, went to the emergency department).
On Monday I visited a chiropractor and begun to doing a light exercise regime.
On Wednesday I went and saw an acupuncturist. The acupuncturist used a few needles and also inserted one into the sciatic nerve (I think). This relieved the pain.
I saw the Chiropractor on the same day in the afternoon and he attempted to crack my spine. He did this twice, once on both sides.
On Thursday I tried to return to work but had to leave (I work as contractor so I do not have sick leave and am fairly eager to get back to work). I probably stood for around 2 hours before the pain became too much.
Now it is Friday afternoon.
I am experiencing heightened sensitivity around my groin, up and down my legs, in my stomach and in the area of the injury. It is almost like very soft pins and needles.
I don't believe it is numbness, it is more sensitivity.
When I feel the sensitivity in my stomach it makes me feel like I want to vomit.
Everything else I have found on the internet has talked about numbness or lose of sensation due to the compression of the nerves after a herniated disc.
I am not sure what is going on, but any kind of advice would be great.
Thank you.
