unexplainable pain

Started by squirtatious on 04/11/2010 8:18pm

I had fusion surgery with instrumentation at l5/s1 feb 22nd of this year. About 2 weeks ago, I began to get a "popping" or "twanging" feeling accompanied by a sharp, piercing pain that lasts about 30 seconds then dimishes into an "inflammed ache". If this "popping" happens enough within an hour, then the inflammation gets so so bad that it affects my walk as my fusion area is so stiff. I had my 7 week post op appt this last week, dr didn't seem to think what I described was too disconcerning and I never really got a reason why it was happening to begin with. Exrays looked great, no hardware mishaps. Only thing I can think of is that there may be sumthing wrong with my paraspinal muscles and ligaments in my fusion area. I've tried researching this phenomena to no avail. I'm looking for kindred spirits who have experienced this. This "pain" is what keeps me on my percocets. If it wasn't for this, id be doing ok. Thank u in advance!!!!:)

I completely forgot to add that this "popping" and "twanging" occur randomly when I move like from a sitting position to a standing one, or when I roll over in bed, or when I walk.

I am sorry to hear about what you are experiencing. . I read the part about 7 week post op.. As to see his notes on the of the sessions. Make an appointment with him tell him again make sure he listens to you. That;s what I would do. If no satisfaction, then I would start looking for another Dr. He needs to solve your complain and come to a solution.

Pc, my dr is the only spine ortho specialist surgeon in the valley where I live.
