Synovial Cyst

Started by hevnsntmi on 02/25/2011 8:24pm

I had a cyst grow on the nerve root between L4 & L5 after a fall. I went to a neurosurgeon at my drs insistance for the surgery since the cord was involved. It's been 5 yrs and I never got better. My surgery was classified as a failure and scar tissue had taken the place of the cyst, still causing all the same bi-lateral problems that were present before the surgery. Has anyone heard about any current procedures for removing scar tissue? I practise yoga and meditation, see a chiropractor, take anti depressants and neurontin for the nerve pain but I'm allergic to opiate pain meds so I'm limited in what I can do.

I just found out I have a facet cyst on L 4&5 and have had server pain and numbness/tingling plus shooting pain down my right leg and foot. This has been going on for 3 months now. The Neurosugeon I see had me try Physical Therapy, it didn't help, next he wants to do Epidural injections but I don't want to just mask the pain for a month or 2 only to have it come back. From what I've found on research it looks like surgery would be a good idea. But now that I've read your post I wonder about having surgery. How long did you have your cyst before you had the surgery? Did you try a Epidural injection before you did the surgery?
I've read several post that say Inversion Tables help the pain, takes pressure off the irritated nerve, might be worth a try. Good luck. Does the Yoga help?
