revision surgery after lumbar fusion

Started by Marcus Tober on 03/09/2017 8:17pm

I am searching information about a corrective surgery after having a lumbar fusion for l3 -S1. The lumbar fusion I had did not work and has left me disabled starting 4 years post fusion surgery. I am curious if there can be a surgery that takes the fusion out and replaces it with artificial discs?

Do you find this discussion helpful?

Hi, Marcus--thank you for sharing you post. We are sorry to hear about what you've been through following your lumbar fusion.

While we can't comment on the treatment options available to you, we did some digging on SpineUniverse and found an article we thought you'd be interested in ( Treatment for Failed Back Surgery Syndrome ). It offers some great advice on what you should expect from your surgeon following a failed spine surgery.

We also found this article defining failed back surgery syndrome to be enlightening as well ( What Is Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS)? ).

We wish you the very best of luck in finding a solution that reduces your pain and allows you to enjoy a great quality of life.
