L5 Bulge/Groin Pain

Started by Soccer_Dude on 04/19/2018 2:13pm

I have a bulge disc at L5 as revealed by a MRI. Have had issues on and off with it, pain, discomfort, achy, etc....Forward a few years I went to see a chiropractor who did traction and now I have these severe left groin/thigh pain like a pinched nerve. It's a sharp pain and also feels like a burning pain. Some times I feel nerve pain down the middle of thigh to the knee. The pain can be so severe I'm unable to sit in my car or on the toilet without severe pain to the point I want to scream. Some times if I force myself I can get fully seated but there is severe burning and stabbing pain in my left groin and thigh. Lower back is achy also.

I recently had my hip xrayed and it was fine.

Can a L5 issue cause groin pain like this making it almost impossible to sit?

Thank you!

Hi, Soccer_Dude--thanks for your post! We are sorry to read about your horrible nerve pain in your groin and thigh. If a nerve is compressed in your low back, you may feel symptoms that radiate down your thighs. Our best advice is to see a spine specialist, perhaps a neurologist, to get a better sense of what's really causing these neurologic symptoms and your treatment options. Our doctor finder tool can help you find a doctor near you: https://www.spineuniverse.com/locate/spe...

You shouldn't feel like simple movements like sitting are an impossibility. We hope you get some answers and relief soon!
