Burst Fracture

Started by littlelee on 11/16/2010 7:08pm

My husband was knocked off his bicycle 2 weeks ago and has a burst fracture of the T12. He was sent home after about 5 days, no surgery and is in a back bracke for 12 weeks. The pain is getting less in his back and he seems to be healing ok in that regard. About 4 days ago though, he started getting very severe pain in his buttocks to the point now where he can only be out of bed for about 15 minutes at a time to eat. The hospital have checked the MRI, CT Scan & X-rays and there is no damage there. I have spoken to our physio and he thinks it is probably his pelvis out of alignement. What can we do? He has a burst fracture so manipulation is out of the question at this point. Does this mean he will be flat on his back in excrutiating pain for at least the next 3 months until he can do some physical therapy? We are so so scared.
Thanks, Traci.
