6months after Fushion, and Lamenectomy

Started by Hummingbird on 09/05/2017 11:00pm

L4 and L5 , March 9th surgery, fushion and lami, plus cage,I felt pretty good for the first 3 months then it started to increase in pain now I have terrible pain and discomfort, I was told no physical therapy yet, and its just scar tissue. go back to Dr. in November. Can any one shed light on the real issue, or is this the normal part of recovery.

Hi, Hummingbird--thank you for your post! Unfortunately, many people report a lot of pain and discomfort during their spine surgery recovery period. It's a major operation that can take many months--and in some cases a year or so--to truly reach a complete recovery.

We have some resources that we'd like to share with you. First, you can read more about lumbar fusion recovery here: ( What Should I Know about Lumbar Spinal Fusion? ).

This is also an interesting perspective on fusion recovery we think you'll be interested in: ( Pseudoathrosis (Failed Fusion) ).

Our best advice is to keep in touch with your doctor and go with your gut when things just don't seem right with your recovery. If your pain feels outside the bounds of what your doctor explained was normal or if you have new symptoms, don't hesitate to call your doctor to get things checked out.

We hope this information helps--and we hope the rest of your recovery is smooth and healthy!
