Cervical fusion

Started by dogluvr4life1968 on 06/25/2018 12:19pm

20 years ago I had a cervical fusion from c5-c7 and now I have the same problem that has occurred in c3-c4 and have to have the cervical fusion there now. Is it common for the area above a previous surgery to develop the same problem?

Yes, it’s common for areas above and/or below the prior surgery site to develop similar problems. My surgeon made that very clear. But after 20 years, you’ve certainly had a long run!

I also discovered that because of my degenerative disc disease, after my own cervical fusion c5-c7, two years later I had the same problems in my lumbar spine requiring fusion l3-l5. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
