bilateral pars interarticularis defect at L5-S1 level post spinal fusion 1 yr ago

Started by Jocelyn88 on 02/01/2019 7:45pm

I had a spinal fusion at L5-S1 level in September 2017 due to having herniated disc, degenerative disease broken disc fragments and nerve damage. I have already had 5 surgeries on my lower spine. After I had a spinal infection in April 2018 my pain got worse and it radiates down my leg now causing me to have acute urinary retention amongst other issues. I just had a ct urogram done and it showed post surgical changes of a bilateral pars interarticularis defect at that level as well as moderate degenerative disease at L1 and L2 level with oseophytes. I don't know what to do. My surgeons are aware but reading up on it the surgery done would be a fusion which I already have. I have 2 rods and 4 screws a artificial disc and bone grafts......what would be done of I already have this. I've been saying to my doctors for months something wasn't right and no one listened. Until I just had this urinary retention happen this week because I have no pressure in my bladder it's now worsened and I have to have a catheter until further notice. Please if anyone has any advice or knowledge on what would be done please let me know. Before my fusion I had numerous cortisone injections, nerve blocks, nerve ablations, spinal cord stimulator etc, my bad has been through the ringer and I was always active with dancjng, skiing and soccer. I'm only 30 yrs old and idk what else to do.
