Pain returning to work

Started by sab494 on 12/12/2018 10:54pm

Hi everyone!
I had a fusion at l5 s1 in August. I’ve been out of work since but returned on December 1. I am a chef so I am expected to work 8+ hours constantly on my feet. I’ve been doing pt and feeling better but now that I have returned to work, the pain at the end of the night is pretty bad. I can’t take pain medicine or it will keep me
Up all night so all I have is my heating pad but the pain is so bad it actually takes my breath away. Now I have work requesting I work more. I’m not sure what to do. I want to be strong enough to be in the profession I love but right now it’s so painful and I leave work with the muscles surrounding the incision shaking and pain when I stand back up after sitting. Any advice?
