Scared to death

Started by ghostfish567 on 06/17/2019 8:26pm

Hello....just joined this community and am hoping for some useful advice. Had an MRI done in May due to what has become almost unbearable neck pain and muscle spasms. I guess what I'm dealing with is a whole lot of arthritis. My question is, is how serious is spinal cord flattening? The cord is flattened at c5, c6 and c7. I am a 62 year old male, a truck driver who depends on the mobility in my neck for my living. My neurosurgeon wants to do a four level fusion and like I said I am scared to death. Can anyone explain cervical stenosis with cord flattening, how serious it is and if the surgery is really nessecary? My wife and I have an appointment Wed. to discuss things. He also wants to do a carpal tunnel surgery at the same time on my right hand. I am so sorry for being so straight forward, but I am so tired of this pain and I just want a good night's sleep again. My friends are recommending I go for disability, but that's another issue. Is four levels a lot for one fusion? Any help and advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, and be Blessed!!!
