Recovery of Motor Fuction After Decompression Surgery

Started by patrick67 on 08/15/2018 6:47pm

Hi,

I just had disk replacement surgery on C5-C6 and C6-C7 and it went very well. The pain and radiculopathy went away mostly within weeks and I went white water rafting two weeks after surgery. However, motor function in my wrist and fingers is still an issue 6 weeks after surgery. I have full function, but the wrist and middle two fingers tire easily and become useless after heavy use. They will recover partially after several minutes and fully after a few hours.

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to regain this full motor function if at all? The manifestation of radiiculopathy and surgery occurred within 6-8 months. EMG tests showed nerve damage so the surgery was rushed.

Thanks,

Patrick
